I hate them.

Who doesn’t, right?

And writing rules are the worst.

But man, are they important.  This past week I went through Wrecked and have been deleting the verb to be.  Which is such a fussy, little, tiny, almost invisible change, but making 10-20 little tiny changes per page makes the page stronger and more accessible.

At the Calgary con, one of the editors was talking about being in the 95 percentile for just being able to format and spell on a page.  but getting from the 95 to the 99 percentile is such a huge, gaping chasm.

It’s tiring.  But I think this story is worth it.
