“Novel”, of course.

There’s a story in my head.

I had done it as a short story (well, 18,000 word short story) that wasn’t long enough. And the more I think about it, the fact that it’s an “N” word seems more likely.

It doesn’t take much to make a short story into a novel, a bit of back story here, a more clearly defined want of a secondary character, a bit more of an effort needed to overcome the thing that needs to be overcame, and prest-o change-o, it’s a novel.
